Over 10 years ago my son was born. He was born with a birth defect that was undetected during my pregnancy. He was rushed into surgery 5 days after he was born. I can tell you we had several really good nurses and several very bad nurses. It was during this medical experience that I had that moment when God talks to your heart and leads you into a direction where you can't see yourself doing anything else.... Well that started my journey to becoming a Nurse. At this time I was working at a call center for a Major Credit Card Co. I had no college experience. I was married with now two children. Did not know where to begin but knew I had to start asap.
So 10 years later, now blessed with 3 angels, taking one class a semester for 10 years getting my co-req's and pre-req's done, graduating with my Associates Degree (totally not planned but glad I did), then patiently waiting 2 years on the wait list to get into the Nursing Program. It was a tedious journey but I never gave up and did what I had to do to keep family first, get my 3 angels at an age where they were a little less dependent on Mom and finally when accepted into the program take the plunge.
The day I received my letter was AMAZING!! It was nerve racking, it was an emotional rollercoaster ride. But I couldn't wait for the journey to begin. I had my husband supporting me 110%, the kids supporting me 110% and other friends and family totally supporting me.
